When it comes to spiritual books I’m drawn to topics that I know I’m particularly weak in and that I know are virtues which are close to God’s heart. This month (as in most months) feeling ensnared in a STICKY, web of pride, I thought I should focus my heart and mind on humility.
It's a short, easy read and I recommend it with my whole heart! I’ve included a few quotes to entice you...
“...it is indeed pride that makes faith impossible...faith and humility are at root one...we shall see that we may indeed have strong intellectual conviction and assurance of the truth while pride is kept in the heart, but that it makes the living faith, which has power with God, an impossibility.”
“Just as water ever seeks and fills the lowest place, so the moment God finds the creature abased and empty, His glory and power flow in to exalt and bless.”
“...the insignificances of daily life are the importances and the tests of eternity, because they prove what really is the spirit that possesses us. It is our most unguarded moments that we really show and see what we are.”
“Let us gladly glory and take pleasure in weakness, in all that can humble us and keep us low; the power of Christ will rest upon us.”
