Nutrition is a personal thing.
What's healthy to one, may be harmful (or ridiculous) to another.
With that in mind, I want to introduce to you the ultimate feeding plan (for me).
I've grown, I've read, I've experienced a lot through the years and I have refined how I should eat and what works for my lifestyle. I'm certain that my dietary views and tastes will continue to change as I learn more about my body and as my knowledge expands, but today, this is where it stands (for me).
I'm calling it "Vegan by Day, Animal by Night."
It's not only a play on words, it's a general rule that reminds me to eat a balanced diet. One that is rich in whole foods, that includes a moderate helping of nourishing, animal proteins, very little sugar, with an emphasis on fresh, disease-fighting vegetables!
I've given myself guidelines, because without them, I'd just eat whatever. When has "just whatever" been good for you? Um, like never. So here's my plan...
Vegan by Day
Two of my meals a day are basically Raw, Fresh and Plant-based.
Animal by Night
The third meal may include meat or fish, whole grains & a big salad.
{Example Meals}
- Breakfast- raw juice, a fruit salad or a big slice of cantaloupe
- Lunch- VEGGIE: salad, wrap, sandwich or soup
- Snack- a handful of raw almonds or an apple with peanut butter
- Dinner- Roasted free range chicken with root veggies, Vegetable curry with basmati rice or grilled shrimp with gazpacho (recipe coming soon)
- Plenty of drinking water, duh
{Just for Fun or Not at All}
- Evil sugar (corn syrup, drinks, desserts etc)
- Fried foods
- Refined or processed foods
- Artificial foods (preservatives, colors, flavor enhancers like MSG etc.)
- Alcohol, caffine
But Wait, there's More
I have a lot more to say about the topic of nourishment and I want to continue the conversation. I'd love to discuss these "guidelines" more and things like "whole foods," "foods to avoid" and "other diets."
I want to inspire you with ideas through video blogs and recipes.
Most of all, I want to hear from YOU! How do you eat? What does you body tell you when you eat certain foods. Have you found your perfect balace?
